Evaluation

MultiMedia: Evaluation
K1219829 - Lobna Hassanein

After producing my own multimedia website, it is time to start evaluating the final product for this semester. The aim of this module is to use different and many media texts as possible on a website that we have to create individually. After researching the design, page layout, typography and media texts to use for my website, it has helped a lot as I have achieved the website I have been planning to produce. I am glad to say that I have completed at least eight different pages on my website that consists of most media texts such as audio, image, video and text.

The audio that has been used on my website were mainly on my videos that I have uploaded onto YouTube and embedded the video, pasted it onto a video player plugin and positioned it where I wanted it to be. The audio was either music that consists of vocals or just instrumental piece. The video that has been used on One on One Beauty were just tutorials on make-up. As make-up requires step by step tutorial, so I figured out that I should record, edit in Premier Pro and then upload it onto YouTube. Images have been either my own material (taking the image by camera) or taken from Google Images to demonstrate something. Lastly, text which is the type of text I have used on the website such as how I positioned it, if it is paragraphed or a big chunk and how to make it attractive and representable.

After a few months of creating this website via WordPress was quite challenging at first as I have never created a website before. WordPress started becoming simple after a few weeks as I have been discovering new tools. However, the hardest and trickiest part of making this website was the plugins. Finding plugins wasn't the hardest, it was quite easy when it comes to finding what you need and installing it. Although it starts out easy, it is how you place that plugin onto your website that became a big struggle for me. For example, until now I am struggling to get my social media buttons (such as Facebook and Twitter) to actually appear on my website in the corner. It either goes on the side, but it doesn't look appealing or it would just disappear. Another hard part of making the website was the menu as WordPress didn't make it clear for me. It took me quite a long time to figure out how to create sub-menu or different categories that should appear on the menu. After looking for a long time, I found out a way to do it which become really easy after discovering it.

If I had more time I would definitely improve my website. Some pages are at the moment under construction as I haven't finished the products and media texts I need to put onto the page. However, this will be improved in the near future if my website does become the groups website in TB2. As mentioned above, the social media button plugin gave me real problems. When it comes to TB2 I will find a way to install the social network plugin that will both work and look attractive. This will also help me and the group in TB2 which will help us market our brand and product. The last thing I want to improve is the brand's logo. The logo at the moment is at the bottom of the page that has a 'power' button. It is pretty standard, however it has nothing to do with beauty. I had a vision of my brand's logo which was a butterfly as butterflies are seen as something beautiful and delicate.
